Description The Electrical Engineer Co-op in the Engineering Services Department will assist project engineers in designing enhancements to equipment to improve safety, quality, productivity, and reliability. - Coordinates and assists in activities involved in fabrication, operation, application, installation, and repair of equipment. - works with engineers, maintenance, and production to develop sound, engineering-based, process improvement solutions. - works with maintenance in troubleshooting situations and root cause failure analysis. - assists engineers on project work in varying degrees of responsibility fro pull project management to individual task execution based on experience level, workload, and priorities. - coordinates fabrication and installation activities utilizing in-house and contracted workforce ensuring conformity to design, specifications, and procedures. - will learn to develop engineering specification packages, cost justifications, and appropriation requests. - will coordinate activities for project management including bidding, installation, start-up, expense control, and spare parts identification & set-up. - will become proficient with CAD and other software appropriate for their engineering discipline. - will develop an awareness of manufacturing needs relative to component standardization, OSHA & EPA regulations, National Electric Code and Cooper Tire requirements. - documents project work consistent with departmental procedures for appropriate engineering discipline.
Requirements - Must be actively pursuing a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering. minimum of one year completed studies - GPA of 3.0 (4.0 scale) or better (consideration given to lover GPA's depending on experiences). - must be able to communicate effectively both oral and in written form. - will be interacting with production, maintenance, vendors, contractors, management, and engineering. - occasionally involved in presentations and providing training for plant personnel. - must have good problem solving skills both from a troubleshooting and project planning standpoint. - must be able to use AutoCAD and Microsoft Office software.
